Common-or-Garden Days
In common-or-garden days
I walk in the street
Like a king
Like a civilian
Like an “I”
My shadow is the shadow of my own
My shadow is the shadow of a civilian’s
My shadow is the shadow of a king’s
Dispensable are these days
Indispensable are these days
Just like those uttered words are not really said
Everything is so important, everything is unimportant
Let’s say, leaves fell down from trees
Let’s say, wind blew the city southward five miles
Let’s say, cars crashed and crashed into two dead rabbits
Some are complacent, some feel frustrated
As for me, I feel neither frustrated nor complacent
Everything is so fresh, everything is not so fresh
The sun of 5000 years ago still shines upon young trees
Young trees grow into big trees and after big trees there will be even younger trees
This is the trees’ logic
So this, so that, so incredible
Just as the calendar calculates the suspense of death skillfully
These days are really common-or-garden
It rains when it rains
It is windy when it is windy
The head aches when it aches
Looking up, the sky’s there; lowering down, the earth’s there
Closing the eyes, I find myself on the top of the Eiffeil
It is of course nine after it is eight
If you want to fade, just blossom
Walking in the street, I want neither to blossom nor to fade
Like a farmer, like a president, like a nothingness
Common is good, common is boring, common is really common
Who says that?
