辜老不仅译《论语》、《中庸》，还译诗，其实，论翻译，辜老最为人为称道的还是其所译之英诗，其中又数《痴汉骑马歌》为甚。著名的近代翻译家伍光建就很佩服辜鸿铭此译，他说：“辜氏用五古体译此诗，把诗人的风趣和诗中主角布贩子的天真烂漫，特别是他那股痴呆味儿都译出了。读来十分亲切。”苏曼殊也赞他译得“可谓辞气相副”。
辜鸿铭逝世后，《大公报》文学副刊主笔吴宓在《悼辜鸿铭先生》一文中写道：“二十余年前，吾侪束发人塾，即闻辜氏之名，云其精通西文，对读其所译
