林语堂笔下的长安南郊（英汉对照）

        In the twenty-third year of Taitsung (649), the old Emperor, my great grandfather, was lying on his deathbed in his beautiful retreat in the Jungnan Hills, surrounded by trees and a luxuriant vegetation. It was his summer resort, connected with the capital, Si-an, by a charming valley crossed by the Tsan, aclear, gurgling steam coming down from the hills and running to the southernsuburbs where the villas thickened toward the Chujiang Lake. The hills ran on and became part of the great rugged Taipo Range beyond; but here, about a thousand feet above the city, was a plateau, secluded and a world of its own.

        在大唐贞观二十三年（公元649年），在秀丽的终南山里，那苍松绿柏环绕的翠微宫里，先曾祖父太宗皇帝正在含风殿染病在床。那座行宫是祖父的避暑宫殿，和长安有一溪谷相通，溪谷之中，风光佳绝，清流横贯谷中，清澈见底，潺湲成韵，自山峦间泻下，流往长安南郊。南郊近曲江池一带，别墅山庄，栉比鳞次。终南山再前行，并于峰峦嵯峨的太白山脉。但终南山在长安附近，高出长安约有一千尺，自为一平原，隐僻幽静，别成一天地。
