敲出来吧把钟声敲向狂野的天空
敲向飞翔的云团敲向结霜的光芒
这一年正在今夜静静地走向寂灭
敲出来吧让狂野的钟声催它消亡
敲响吧要把旧的敲灭把新的敲入
敲响吧让快乐的钟声飞越过雪墙
这一年正要离去那就让它离去吧

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light;
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Ring out the grief that saps the mind,
For those that here we see no more,
Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.
Ring out a slowly dying cause,
And ancient forms of party strife;
Ring in the nobler modes of life,

注：据“万之的博客”介绍，在每年新年将至之时的十二月三十一日晚间，不论天气如何，即使天寒地冻、冰雪交加，瑞典首都斯德哥尔摩也总是会有上千市民会聚集在城边动物园岛民俗公园（SKANSEN）的一个高地上，燃起篝火，载歌载舞地守岁。在宣告新年开始的十二下钟声敲响之前，会有一个著名演员朗诵一首献给新年的诗篇。年年复诵的这首诗歌是十九世纪的英国桂冠诗人阿尔弗雷德·丁尼生爵士（Lord
Alfred Tennyson，1809-1892）的《敲响吧，狂野之钟》（Ring out, wild
bells），此诗写于1833年到1850年间，后来由瑞典诗人艾德华·福雷丁（Edvard
Fredin，1857-1889）翻译过来，但是瑞典文译本比较自由，和原文差距相当大，成为了一种再创作。瑞典的这种新年颂诗敲钟传统从1895年开始，持续至今。1928年开始通过广播电台对全国广播，1977年开始电视直播，先后有十几位瑞典著名演员担任过此诗的朗诵。
